Immortal Death
by Laurel O’Donnell
sensual paranormal romance novel

Jade Smith’s supernaturally fast ability to heal has made her a freak. After years of fearful reactions from others, she stays hidden in the shadows of life. The one thing that keeps her sane is her writing–and her wonderful Demetrius, an imaginary character she created in her online stories. But when Demetrius suddenly appears in her apartment, her life changes forever.

Demetrius Mercer is a fighter vampire for the de Nouviant family who spends his days hunting a rival vampire family for killing his beloved Rosaline. When he learns Jade Smith knows his life story and is publishing it on the Internet for all to see, he must uncover who she is and how she knows so much about his past–before she exposes him and endangers his entire family.

Will Jade’s abilities be enough to heal Demetrius’s scarred soul, or will he spend eternity alone in anguish?

Excerpt:

Jade heard his confession to Chip, Demetrius was sure that was why she had fled. He shook his head. He only said the words to protect her. Chip would have gone to Council immediately if he thought Demetrius had feelings for a mortal. Council would take her blood and very possibly her life.

He was supposed to be in hiding! If his family found him hunting Jade, he would be locked away like a prisoner. But he was a fighter. He should be out battling Malachite, not cowering in some secret hiding place. That’s what his family needed him to do. That’s what he wanted to do. He didn’t want to be chasing after Jade, either. He hadn’t asked for any of this. He should be furious with Jade for writing that story, for revealing his past for all the world to see. But he knew no matter how much he wanted to be angry with her, he was more concerned with her safety than anything else.

He flipped open his cell phone.

The voice on the other end answered before he could pose the question. “Nothing within the five minutes since you called last time,” Luther growled. “Stop calling me. I told you I’d get in touch when there was something to tell you.” The phone disconnected.

Demetrius grit his teeth. Where could she have gone?

He pulled off his sunglasses as soon as the sun set and scanned the street again. Not a single damned clue to indicate where Jade had gone. Just then, a shadowy figure moved around a corner half a block away. It moved too quickly to be human. Demetrius followed…and stopped as soon as he turned onto the vacant street.

Bastian stood before him.

Demetrius snarled, his fangs lengthened. He rushed toward him, but Bastian took off, rounding the opposite corner.

Demetrius followed, racing like the wind through the streets. Bastian dashed around a boarded up two story building. Demetrius trailed him like a shadow, bursting past the barren building. He wasn’t about to let his brother get away. Not this time. He needed a good fight.

Bastian shot up the stairs and into the open door of one of the decrepit buildings.

Demetrius trailed him. His mind registered that this could be a trap, but he didn’t care. He wanted to fight. He wanted to teach his brother not to come within two cities of him. He followed his brother up a set of dilapidated stairs and into a room on the second floor…and stopped short. His fangs vanished immediately.

Jade stood near a window. She turned to him. Her large blue eyes like the sea on a clear day. Her brown hair waved about her shoulders with her movement. Was he dreaming? His heart pounded in his chest. “Jade,” he gasped, relief and anxiety mixing inside him.

She opened her mouth slightly at the sight of him, as if she were inhaling.

“I told you I’d get you back to him,” Bastian said easily to Jade, then shifted his gaze to Demetrius. “You’d better get out of here while you have the chance.” He stood against the wall to Demetrius’s right.

Demetrius snapped his head toward Bastian. “You’ve had her all this time? You’ve known where she was? You laid your tainted hands on her?” He moved menacingly towards Bastian.

“No,” Jade cried, stepping forward to intercept him.

She was too slow. Demetrius lunged at his brother, grabbing the front of his shirt and pulled him close to his face.

“I brought you to her, you damn fool,” Bastian growled.

Before anyone could say another word, two things happened. Demetrius scented another presence, a scent so powerfully sweet it could only be Malachite, and Bastian looked at Jade in horror.

Bastian broke free of Demetrius’s hold and shot toward Jade. He managed to wrap his hands around her and spin her away, just as another vampire appeared in the spot she had stood in.

Demetrius’s knees bent and his fangs lengthened. He hissed at the newcomer, dressed in black, his dark hair cut short against his head, his eyes glowed red, his fangs lengthened and menacing. A Malachite. A powerful Malachite. Oh, he was in trouble. Two Malachites and Jade to defend.

Excerpt:

“This is a bad idea.” Nash’s mouth found her own, taking her tongue immediately and forcefully, forging a blazing path across her lips. “A very bad idea.”

Sienna couldn’t disagree more as she opened her mouth and mind to him, to take as he pleased. He lowered her to the floor then as he pushed her dress off of her shoulders, tugging the material down exposing her strapless basque. She watched as his eyes devoured her curves, and she squirmed. The dress dropped to the floor as the steam started to fill the room.

“Holy shit – If I didn’t have a thing about red underwear, I do now.” Nash ran his hand gently down the outline of her breast and Sienna arched toward him, a come-hither smile playing across her mouth. She wanted him. Badly. Right now. Her hands reached out to him and made short work of pulling off his t-shirt and un-buttoning his jeans.

“How do I get into this thing? I don’t want to ruin it.” She took his roughened hands in hers and felt like a sexy siren as she put them in between her breasts and showed him the hidden hook and eyes, watching him as he delicately carried on trailing down her stomach, slowly exposing her breasts.

He carefully draped the underwear on top of the sink before pushing her knickers down her legs, his eyes devouring the exposed contours of her lower body. She was naked in front of him and she was more turned on than she could ever imagine.

Nash took his fill of her without touching, trailing his eyes over her breasts and down. Then his boots were being kicked off and he was pulling down his jeans and boxers to expose a large penis. Sienna grinned as her eyes devoured Nash in all his glory, her tongue darting out to moisten her now dry lips. He bent and pulled out a packet of condoms from his discarded jeans and took one out in anticipation of what was to come, leaving it on the sink.

He took her hand and stepped into the shower with her. Water rained over them both as they allowed their hands to move across each other’s bodies as their mouths devoured one another.

Sienna’s nipples peaked as he took one in his mouth. Water cascaded down his face and over her skin and she pushed her hands through his hair, moaning her pleasure.

Stepping away from her breasts, Nash soaped up his hands as he began to wash her hair and body. Rinsing her gently and methodically until Sienna thought she was going to burst. She did the same to him, before kneeling onto the floor of the shower and soaping his dick and rinsing it carefully. She couldn’t help it; it looked so appetizing that she took it into her mouth. Nash’s moan floated down to her, over the water.

In and out, she took it deep into her throat until she thought she would explode from the sensation herself. Nash’s hands were on her shoulders and she was dragged up with a growl and a curse.

“You can fuck me with that mouth of yours another time, sweetheart.” Nash reached out of the shower and grabbed the condom, making quick work of sheathing himself. His hands were back on her in moments and this time, he knew exactly what he wanted. “Right now, I want to be inside you.”

With the holidays upon us, it can be more difficult than ever to find time to write. Even those of us who have moved into different aspects of our career, still look at those unfinished manuscripts and wonder when we could find time to finish them. And yet, while some will say that finding time to write is as easy as finding time to create priorities, the truth is, with so many things competing for our time, especially this time of year, it’s not that easy.

So how do you find time to write?

The holidays are here. To celebrate I’m doing a little giveaway, well two actually.
Are you spoiling everyone else this season ? Why not spoil yourself.
Enjoy this bounty of bath supplies and a bottle of bubbly.

Or how about a cozy cup of cocoa for two?

In this basket you’ll get to have your choice of peppermint cocoa, pumpkin spice latte, vanilla latte, peppermint mocha, cocoa supreme, carmel cocoa, mint cocoa, and french vanilla cocoa in to fun holiday mugs. Oh and the little visitor is going along for the ride.

How do you win? It’s easy. Like my fan on facebook then comment here so I can verify and you’ll be entered. The contest will run until December 25th with the winners being drawn, announced and notified on the 26th.

Okay, now the tables are turned. We talked about readers. Here are six ways you can give to writers.

1. Cute little notebooks. No matter how high tech we are, little notebooks to tuck into purses, bags or keep on desks come in handy. Some adorable matching pens would be great, too!

2. How To books for our writing software. A lot of what we do isn’t all that difficult. But sometimes, it helps to know how to manipulate our software program, and a handy “how to” book for our version of Word, or WordPerfect, or even the software we use for our websites comes in handy.

3. Support national memberships. Ask if you can renew a writer’s RWA membership for them. Sure, it’s pricier, but it’s also the gift that will give year round.

4. Share word about their books. If you can take bookmarks or postcards and share at your office, at your doctor’s office, around town (granted this may not work with all genres), that’s great.

5. Bookstore gift certificates. Hey, we’re readers too. And oftentimes we’re looking for research material or other books that you won’t find right on your local store shelves. Help support our habit. *smiles*

6. Something that’s on my “want list” is a digital voice recorder. Help your writer friend or family member record thoughts at a moment’s notice.

I hope this has given you ideas for what you to buy for the writer in your life. Happy holidays!

It’s the holiday season and we’re all thinking about giving. Here are six, quick ways you can support readers either in your community or beyond.

1. Donate to your local library. Books, money or materials–all are welcome.

2. Share your favorite books. We are all looking for new authors and books to love. Use the power of social media to share your favorites.

3. If you are craft-inclined, make bookmarks or book thongs. These small gifts are very welcome, because readers can never have too many bookmarks.

4. Donate to literacy charities. ‘Nuff said.

5. Volunteer to read. You can volunteer to read to children, or read to seniors, or read to your family. Just read!

6. Share some of your favorite books. One of my fondest Christmas memories is receiving, a few books a year, the entire Little House on the Prairie series from an aunt. If you are buying for young readers, especially those who might share your interest, think about getting them the classics you loved as a child.

I hope these ideas spark you into the season of giving!
